June 14th – Dr Thorne by Anthony Trollope
July 12th – The Aspern Papers by Henry James
August 9th – The Children of The New Forest by Frederick Marryat
September 13th – Kenilworth by Sir Walter Scott
October 11th – The Golden Chersonese by Isabella Bird
November 8th – Adam Bede by George Eliot
December 13th – all or any of the Christmas Books by Charles Dickens
January 10th 2017 – The History of Henry Esmond by W. M. Thackeray
Would anyone be interested in joining a group to read and discuss 19th century literature?
19th Century writers include: Jane Austen , Mary Shelley, Charles Dickens, George Eliot, the Bronte’s, Anthony Trollope, Wilkie Collins, Thomas Hardy, Conan Doyle, Robert Louis Stevenson, Oscar Wilde and many more. Many authors from this date are now available for free on Kindle!
As the 19th century was such an interesting period socially and historically it would be good to read around each book a little – finding out more about the author or the topics covered in the book – and then sharing what we found out as part of the discussion.
