At the moment, we are arranging training for those people who want to support the library in Freshwater by volunteering to help run it. As you may know, the library service is delivered by only one member of library staff assisted by a team of local volunteers. We really do need the help of our community to keep the library running.

If you think you can help in any way, we can arrange for you to meet the library staff and come and do a shadowing session to see whether you think you’d like to do some further training. Once a session of training at library HQ in Newport has been completed you will receive on the job training by library personnel. Please do contact us by using this CONTACT US link.  We will always reply to you as soon as we can.

Once you are a regualr volunteer, you’ll be offered the same sesion every week. This way, you can plan your life around your volunteering activity and we have a consistent team of volunteers.

Our volunteers find that volunteering in the library is a very worthwhile thing to do. Freshwater Library is at the heart of the village and its a great way of doing something really useful and special to benefit the community you live in. It is no exaggeration to say that the library simply cannot function without your support and we value our wonderful team of volunteers.

Please don’t forget,  we need people with a broad range of skills, not just volunteer librarians. If you think you’d be able to help in the garden, doing general maintemance or helping at events with refreshments –  then we’d love to hear from you.

Both Freshwater Library and the FOFL Committee are delighted at the level of support that has been offered. New volunteers – we hope to hear from you soon.
